EsCAMOtage

EsCAMOtage is a new wine. It was born by six producers’ idea to give an identity to a wine that has been produced for several years, but without well-defined rules: a dry and still white wine arising from the known aromatic grapes of this area. It is the Moscato Bianco di Canelli, which, until today, you have known as sweet wine only.

Therefore, in Spring 2019, the Associazione Aroma di un Territorio came to light. Thanks to it, we obtained a guideline that marks off a production area and regulates its production both in the vineyard and in the winery with several restrictions. EsCAMOtage is a “protest” name against the countless bureaucratic difficulties found to choose a name for this wine, which initially we wanted to call Camo, the name of a hamlet of Santo Stefano Belbo, until recently a little village in the middle of the production area.

We are among the devisers of this project, which has already had two new members and very soon may rely on many new people. The beauty of this idea is that everyone keeps his/her own identity and style, but it becomes an opportunity of discussion and improvement among us. Many hints and ideas emerge from our meetings, but also the difficulties that each firm manages to overcome thanks to the support and help of the others. Just thanks the association, we wrote a chapter of the book “Moscato: pane burro e acciughe”, we contributed to the creation of the event “esCAMOtage itineranti”, which may be the beginning of an “Aromatic tour”.
